The European launch of Ir77 book + film September 21st
The Launch will be on Thursday September 21st from 19:00 to 22:00 at GRAND Gallery, Birmensdorferstrasse 13, 8004 Zurich. The show will stay in the gallery from September 21st to November 7th 2006. Together with Lukas Huffmans Pulp Puplishing, we will show the launch and exhibtion of the book and fi lm project ir77. ir77 was started by professional snowboarder Lukas Huffman as an effort to tell a story about the raw passion in snowboarding. A story that includes powder landings, high fi ves, and laughter, but also includes frigid mornings, broken bones, and frustration. We all love snowboarding for the rush and the feeling of accomplishment that we get, but it is in the challenging and heartbreaking moments that the real love of snowboarding exists. ir77 explores and celebrates the entire experience. Both the ir77 book and movie are a result of a global network of photographers, cinematographers, artists, and riders. They have all been asked to submit work, comments, and ideas about fi ve specifi c themes in snowboarding. The fi ve themes are Anticipation, Dedication, Stories, Pain, and Exhilaration. This process is an effort to create a group project that represents many perspectives from snowboarders all over the world. We will screen the movie, there will be copies of the book on display (and for sale!), and we are installing a huge wall piece exposing some of the process behind the creation of the book.
